As a kitchen fitter, I needed something for quick cleanups that wouldn't fail on plaster dust. This Makita is brilliant-compact enough to keep in the front of the van and the suction is top-tier.
Bought this primarily for car detailing. It gets into every crevice and the wet function saved me when I spilt a coffee on the passenger seat. Much better than any cheap mini vacuum cleaner.

Great bit of kit. Only downside is the tank fills up quickly if you're doing a big floor cleanup, but for bench work and car interiors, it's perfect.
